Gabby’s Sanctuary ARK (GSA) had a very successful 1st Annual Horseman Clinic on May 19, 2013. We had fun watching children and adults enjoy themselves on the 14 acres of land. Our featured Horseman, Overton Brooks demonstrated the basic groundwork that any level from beginners to advance could use as a horsemen. Gabby’s Sanctuary ARK raffled off 7 bikes that were donated by Wal-Mart of Cedar Hill, TX. Food was catered by Ron Williams and City Wide CDC picked up the cost of the food. Walmart has donated dog food, cat food, clothing, lawn mowers and more, which GSA has been able to share with the low-to-moderate income community. The lawn mowers were donated to Citywide CDC for young men between ages 14-18 to be used for entrepreneur opportunities. GSA is assisting in job creation as well, to low-to-moderate income communities.
I want to thank everyone that took part in making this event a success, especially the Cedar Hill Police department. They were able to provide an event permit for GSA without the required 30 advance notice.
Also, Gabby’s Sanctuary ARK partnered with QFactor Chiropractic with the Oklahoma tornado relief drive. GSA provided a truck load of dog and cat food for the displaced animals. May 25th is when all donations were delivered to Oklahoma’s Tornado victims. Items needed: Water, blankets, non-perishable food, batteries, pet food, flashlights, diapers, baby formula, aspirin, Tylenol, bandages, baby food, tents, feminine products, soap, toothbrushes, deodorant, underwear, socks and more.
We are planning a cocktail fund-raiser in September. Details to follow. I hope to see you there.
